Lyrics: Iwasaki Daisuke
Composition: R・O・N
The cold wind shakes buildings with a shudder
An uncertainty of being watched from every direction
Damn it!!
The one ending I can't bring myself to accept
There are times I simply can't swallow it down
You're better off not expecting anything—
Words like that
Who are you saying them to?
To seize what's right within my grasp
My drive to try one more time, is you
As this awkwardness drags on
Creeping up my throat
If you're about to give up, why not trust instead?
If I only exist to replace someone
Then we're in the same boat here [1]
Awkward?
We'll overtake this night
This isn't the kind of relationship to fall apart
Because our story has been left unfinished
I'm only good at being scared, these days
It's so ordinary, yet that's what makes it funny
Whether I'm allowed to or not,
I want to prove once again that I'm alive
As this awkwardness carries on
If we put our palms together,
They'll stop trembling, it's nice that way
The days I felt fulfilled just hating something
Awkward?
Will I grab hold of that dream?
We're both to blame in the end
Baby alright?
Even then, if we can smile at each other
As this awkwardness drags on
Creeping up my throat
If you're about to give up, why not trust instead?
If I only exist to replace someone
Then we're in the same boat here
Awkward?
We'll overtake this night
Not a replacement, I know
I could honestly say it to you
Stay with me
Notes:
[1] A slightly more inflammatory way of reading this would be "If I'm only here to replace someone, then I can treat you the same."
They're both saying the same thing but I opted for the one above because the original line doesn't use any pronouns so he may as well be talking about the two of them being replacements rather than an accusatory "You're not valuing me." And I guess you can also read it more softly as him saying that they can be together because they're replacements? It's up to you which one of these fits his character better, especially because he takes this statement back in the outro anyway. But you can tell I had a lot of trouble with this one.
