Dear Vocalist - Sanka/讃歌 English Translation

Lyrics: Iwasaki Daisuke
Composition: R・O・N

Within our facade of clichéd lines, we suspect one another
Your eyelids twitch—a good liar you are, I don't hate it
Steeling oneself, as if to eliminate all and every trace of goodwill
The downpour of rain drenches us two

I don’t want to be a fake plaything, I don't even know
Cut to the chase already, or I won't feel a thing [1]

Burning down life itself, I suck on my karma [2]
Love me to the bone please; a cheap light
In this dark Spring, I remember your face
I beg of you, grant me even a shred of a dream.

Trading love for money, a job taken in order to live
Men are foolish creatures—they’re so quick to strike a deal, with their bodies
Filling my glass to the brim, a light glimmers amidst my scattering consciousness [3]
A hypocritical warmth is, once again, a mere fantasy

I want to be stolen violently, to be defiled and cast aside
Cut love with pure water, and I won't feel a thing [4]

Stolen by the beasts, I'm chatting away this night again
Would anyone love me please; a ruined fate

Abandon me on that bridge and one day, the limpid sea
Will wash it away—wash away everything that I am.

Burning down life itself, I suck on my karma
Love me to the bone please; a cheap light
In this dark Spring, I remember your face
I beg of you, grant me even a shred of a dream.

Even. For. A. Moment.

Notes:

[1] Literally, the first part reads "strangle someone's neck with silk" which is used to mean dragging things out, not getting to the point, or torturing someone slowly.

[2] "Karma" is written 業 so it's about the Buddhist concept of karma, not the word karma in the modern sense.

[3] specifically a Sakazuki, a cup for alcoholic drinks

[4] Literal is "Strangle love with pure water" which is meant to sound similar to the saying in note 1. I had to change it a little in a sorry attempt to make them match.
